A patient visited our office with a trigger finger that had been injected twice by a local orthopedic although the problem returned. Other fingers on his hand began to stiffen as well and the doctor offered the possibility for surgery. He also noticed his shoulder felt restricted and sore for a while, and his right hip had been diagnosed a couple of years ago with bursitis that made it difficult to sleep on that side. The physical therapy relieved the problem but he wanted to avoid surgery on his hand. He also had been seeing a chiropractor for years to relieve a chronic sacro iliac problem.

A friend suggested he visit our office for his trigger finger and we had a long discussion regarding his hand issues, shoulder issues, sacro iliac and hip issues and if they were related. Our evaluation was able to show him where and why these problems were developing and he appreciated the fact we were thorough. Our initial treatment was able to help him feel and function better on his initial visit.

I personally know many people who have never visited me and continued to go from medical procedure to medical procedure to fix a nerve, a tendon, a pain. It often appears to me that looking at the body as parts which is common in the medical world adds risk, costs, tests with different specialists often fails to resolve problems. When asking a healthcare provider why the problem exists, the response of some people get this because of thyroid, diabetes, etc. usually reveals they have no idea. When they have no idea, they test using x-rays, MRI’s and the idea of it being arthritic just because you are older is absurd, as many of us have some and it is often not why you hurt.

Patients who visit our office are often surprised that our holistic approach is so thorough beginning with a deep history and a detailed evaluation of their problems.

Patients like the idea of figuring out why they hurt and having one doctor who takes a primary care approach and relies on the evaluation to help them and you figure out how to resolve your problems.

Treatment usually begins on the initial visit and chiropractors utilize manipulation of the joints, myofascial release and exercises to help you improve and feel and function better.

Sometimes, an x ray may help the doctor understand a trauma or long term problem better and the doctor will perform these studies in their office.

Foot orthotics may be recommended for those who have an imbalance in how they stand and walk. Patients are often surprised at how effective the right foot orthotic can be.

Most patients markedly improve quickly as compared to typical physical therapy regimens and often, many problems improve as function improves.
