Isometric exercises are exercises where you maintain a sustained contraction for some time. While there are many types of beneficial exercises such as weight lifting which uses both concentric (muscular contracting with resistance) or eccentric (muscular extending with resistance), isometric exercises can be as simple as a plank, or a wall sit. Isometric exercises are beneficial for cardiovascular health and overall fitness while it improve overall joint stability.
