If you feel like you are coming down with a cold, do you; Get into bed, take some Nyquil, and go to sleep? Do you sit around hoping it will go away on its own? Do you go to war with the viruses that may leave you in bed for the next week? The best answer is #3 because attacking the virus by helping your body help itself can reduce the severity of the cold or block it entirely. Build immunity naturally. Natural immunity is created by being around others and being micro-dosed with what surrounds us in crowded places such as buses, trains, concerts, etc. Having children will build your immunity as they come home feeling sick and when you get it, you will often feel much worse than they do however, this builds your immunity. If you are masking in crowds, you are interfering with how your immune system works. If you are the one with the cold, wearing a mask protects others. Some of us continue to mask as if we are still dealing with Covid-19. I advise against this as you are interfering with a process animals have developed to naturally survive their environments over thousands of years. Vaccines, while helpful may not be as useful as natural exposure although they can help with resistance. Since most preventable diseases are what we are vaccinated for when we are children, community immunity is what makes these vaccines effective, rather than being individually vaccinated. This was the concern during the covid-19 shutdowns although eventually, community immunity was reached either through vaccines, naturally, or both. How to naturally fight the cold and win. During cold and flu season, so many people are getting sick and calling out. You don’t have to be one of them if you follow my protocol. The good news is, that using healthy methods keeps you healthier in general and more resistant to the common viruses that surround us. As I do not get sick days where I can take off work and because people depend on me, I have developed this protocol that blocks most colds and viruses. For this regimen to be effective, you must begin when you feel tired or lethargic or sense that your sinuses are becoming involved. Here is my current protocol for attacking a cold. Take 2 echinacea tablets every two hours initially. Take two Nettle every 4 hours as needed(I prefer the tablets from Nature’s Way we have in our office. Nettle is a natural antihistamine and anti-inflammatory. Take 2 Alpha-Glycosyl Isoquercitrin with the Nettle every four hours as needed. This is immune support and if you are feeling your sinus cavities beginning to become sensitive, this helps reduce it and improve how you sleep. Vitamin C powder, one level teaspoon. I prefer Alive which is extremely effective and the powder in water helps it get into your system fast. Take one teaspoon every two hours. If you begin to develop diarrhea, stop taking it as you have reached the maximum your body can accommodate. Zinc Tabs. Avoid the chalky ones as they are difficult to swallow. Some companies make these as gummies. Drink plenty of fluids. Using this regimen at the beginning of cold symptoms helps your body fight it off. Unlike waiting for a cold to worsen, being proactive can help you wake up the following morning feeling as if little or nothing happened and you can function as you normally would. Doing this also helps maintain your immunity against other viruses. Many doctors suggest we all need the flu shot and other shots for immunity. While these may be helpful, personally, I have not had the flu in 30 years and never had a flu shot. Naturally is how our immune systems develop over time. Using natural methods keeps us healthy and reduces the need for doctor visits. One more thing; make sure you have a supplement of vitamin D which is important for proper immune function. Many of us are vitamin D deficient and during covid-19, the cytokine storm that did great harm to many people was found to be a result of being vitamin D deficient. We have a 5000 IU chewable vitamin D tab from Integrative Therapeutics that you can take three times a week to make sure your body has enough. Medically speaking, some doctors offer a high dosage prescription of 50,000 IU however, it is likely your body discards most of this as it is too high a dosage. Taking it daily or every other day is a more effective way of dosing vitamin D.
